"It's best not to have one colour all over in your hair. This will give hair no definition in photos. You lose the details of the styling," explains Gemma. "Hair is naturally multi-tonal and that's what colourists need to embrace, not cover. The camera loves sunkissed tones!"

"Not many olive-skinned girls ask to go auburn, because from experience, most don't think they suit copper tones," says Smiths senior colourist Gemma Smidmore, "but they really do."

“My advice is to go to the salon when stripping or changing your hair colour as these are very tricky jobs and can result in damage if not done correctly. Most stripping products contain bleach and bleach dissolves bonds in our hair so it’s best to leave it to the professionals,” says Gemma.
